Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Advising, the Academic Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive advising and retention support to an assigned student population. This full-time, 12-month position plays a key role in guiding students through their academic journey, helping them achieve their educational goals, and improving retention rates. The position is governed by state and federal regulations, as well as institutional policies.
Salary range of $36,000-$37,000 to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package.

Duties and Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
•Providing information on - and assistance with - developing and implementing a degree plan (GPS) for students
•Interpreting placement scores for appropriate course selection; connecting students to resources, on and off campus, that help remove barriers to student success
•Completing graduation checklists and degree audits
•Carrying out a case management approach for advising and retention
•Engaging, motivating, and empowering students to achieve academic success
•Working collaboratively with other departments, faculty, staff, and administration for continuous improvement
•Assisting Student Services and other divisions when necessary
•Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities: Must be able to work with diverse student populations, have ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, should exhibit strong organizational, planning, and record-keeping skills, and be able to effectively use technology to evaluate and track progress.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required with strong computer skills. Three years of experience in an academic setting is also required.
Preferred Education and Experience: Master's degree in higher education or related student affairs area preferred. Experience in higher education/student services/advising is preferred. Health Science familiarity is desirable, but not required.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting; with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
