Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Warehouse Manager acts as a shift supervisor as well as a fill in for the warehouse manager at Michigan Sugar's Bay City Packaging and Warehousing facility. The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for safety leadership, production and quality of the melt operation, lab operations and warehousing. This manager is responsible for scheduling staff for their shift, administering corrective progressive discipline, time punches, and shift reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily packaging activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of orders.
  • Monitor packaging processes to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with production and quality control teams to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Assist in managing warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and shipping products.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and audits.
  • Implement and maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness standards.
  • Supervise and train packaging and warehouse staff, promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in scheduling and workforce planning to meet production demands.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
  • Address and resolve any safety concerns promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in packaging and warehouse management, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
