Summary:The Washington Nationals are looking for a skilled tradesperson with a focused skillset in the areas of carpentry technologies, maintenance / installation and repair of door & lock related systems, with a deep understanding and experience in the installation of various wall and flooring technologies.The Nationals are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spousesEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Access CMMS to review & complete work ordersRead and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, schematic manufacturer's specifications and other reference materials to determine appropriate job requirements and proceduresUse variety of manual and power tools to support projectsPerform other duties and responsibilities as required in team-oriented, can-do environmentSupport baseball games and baseball related events before, during and post-gameSupport non-baseball events including but not limited to concerts, meetings, weddings and large gatheringsAccurately maintain records of labor time, parts used, and work accomplishedComplete, in a timely manner, required administrative paperwork and recordkeepingOperate equipment used in the maintenance of convention and arena facilities such as forklifts, high lifts, scissor lifts, and other maintenance equipmentSet up equipment and tools for safe operation at job siteAssist in maintenance and repair of systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire suppression, boilers and associated equipment as well as general maintenance and upkeep activitiesOversee and provide direction to contractors and or other labor providersCommunicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingDemonstrate attention to detailPerform painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g., preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucksPerform duties and responsibilities with view toward department goals and resource conservationEstablish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of workSupport third party tenants and rental spaces within the ballparkFabrication / installation of doors, windows, walls and flooringMaintain and repair ballpark seating, railing, masonry, floors and floor coveringsCoordinate work with Carpentry Manager and other skilled tradesMaintain keys / locksets and install and/or repair components of high security key systemsOther duties as assignedRequirements:Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent GED, or equivalent military experienceCompletion of an approved apprentice / vocational program or five years of progressively responsible experienceApplicable license / certification preferredValid driver's licenseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functionsAbility to respond to worksite within 90 minutes in the event of an emergencyWorking knowledge of PC based computer applicationsKnowledge of standard work practices and methods, OSHA safety standards, fire and building codes, Nationals policies and procedures, and hazardous material handlingAbility to work safely & effectively under pressure in meeting deadlinesAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to understand and apply principles to solve practical problemsCalculate fractions, decimals, and percentagesAbility to effectively communicate via electronic means (e.g., handheld radio, cell phone, email and or text)Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility usersAbility and eagerness to work in a team-oriented maintenance department where daily work activities will include tasks both within and outside of specific trade disciplinesAbility to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended workdays and extended number of consecutive daysUphold Core Values: Excellence, Performance, and Accountability. May work at heightsRequires an employee to perform strenuous tasks requiring strength, coordination, and balanceRequires an employee to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipmentRequires an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb (ladders, stairs scaffolding, ramps, etc.), reach, walk, or stand for extended periodsRequires walking / standing of >3 hours per dayCompensation:The projected wage rate for this position is $25.42 - $27.00 per hour.Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant's: qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements.
