Salary:

Abdo, a growing accounting and advisory firm, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join the firm’s leadership team, overseeing financial operations and guiding strategic planning to drive financial health, risk management, and sustainable growth. This is a new position for the firm, and we are looking for a thoughtful, forward-thinking, and relationship-oriented individual to come grow alongside us.

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Strategy and Leadership

• Develop and implement a financial strategy aligned with the firm’s vision and growth objectives.
• Lead the firm’s financial management and foster collaboration across offices and service lines, ensuring a unified approach.
• Support strategic planning efforts, providing financial insight for new business strategies to promote growth and sustainability.
• Identify and pursue investment opportunities, including managing mergers and acquisitions.
• Design growth plans considering client tiering, client selection, and staffing needs.
• Lead the budgeting process and provide recommendations for enhancing financial performance and identifying new service areas.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting for leadership and partners.
• Communicate financial performance, trends, and forecasts, providing insights that support both short- and long-term decision-making.
• Manage expense oversight, ensuring effective expense tracking and reporting.

Cash Flow and Investment Management

• Monitor cash flow to maintain liquidity and financial stability.
• Evaluate capital requirements and oversee cash management practices.
• Oversee the investment of funds, coordinating with banking partners to secure capital for expansion, as needed.

Risk Management and Compliance

• Establish effective internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations.
• Oversee tax planning and compliance, including tax return preparation and filing, collaborating with advisors when necessary.
• Maintain appropriate segregation of duties and monitor regulatory compliance in all financial processes.

Operational and Capacity Management

• Assess firm capacity for growth, working with departments to review financial performance and budget alignment.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Oversee the development of strategies to analyze client profitability and staff productivity.
• Cultivate strong relationships with partners to support their financial responsibilities, focusing on automation and efficiency tools to drive productivity.

Ideal CFO candidate has:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA highly desirable
• 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in public accounting, professional services, or a multi-divisional, production environment experience
• Demonstrated leadership/management experience
• Strategic focus as well as organization and attention to detail
• Proven experience in leveraging to a controller and developing a team
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization, including management of remote staff
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
• PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment), and strong working knowledge of Excel is necessary
• Sage Intacct experience is a plus
