Position: Commercial HVAC Stationary Engineer
As a Commercial HVAC Stationary Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC-R) within commercial buildings. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing HVAC-R equipment to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for building occupants. This role demands technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of operational efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities: System Maintenance and Operation:
- Conduct routine inspections of HVAC-R systems to ensure they are functioning effectively.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, lubricating motors, and replacing filters to extend equipment lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
- Monitor system operations and adjust controls to maintain optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, diagnose issues, and implement repairs as needed.
Technical Expertise:
- Utilize knowledge of HVAC-R systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, and controls, to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to HVAC-R systems.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards in all maintenance and repair tasks.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of safety systems, such as emergency shut-offs and alarms.
- Document maintenance activities, equipment readings, and repairs to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other engineering and maintenance staff to schedule repairs and optimize system performance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and maintenance personnel.
Customer Service:
- Respond to service requests and communicate effectively with building occupants or tenants regarding HVAC-R issues.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and prioritize customer satisfaction in all interactions.
Requires: - High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or vocational training in HVAC-R systems is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as EPA Section 608 Universal Certification for handling refrigerants.
- Proven experience in commercial HVAC-R maintenance and repair, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and stamina.
Working Conditions: - Work is primarily indoors within commercial buildings, with exposure to varying temperatures and occasional outdoor work.
- Typically follows a standard work schedule but may require on-call availability for emergency repairs or maintenance.
