Its faculty are known for their collaborative spirit, applied research, and devotion to student success - educators who embody Oregon Tech's distinctive polytechnic ethos and commitment to real-world transformation.
Across its diverse departments, HAS defines what it means to be "polytechnic with purpose." From Dental Hygiene and Medical Imaging Technology to Medical Laboratory Science, Emergency Medical Services, Applied Psychology, Population Health Management, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and the Doctor of Physical Therapy, the College integrates scientific rigor with human connection. Students deliver care in campus clinics, conduct research alongside faculty mentors, and complete clinical rotations and externships that result in some of Oregon's highest licensure and placement outcomes. Nearly half of all Oregon Tech graduates work in health-related fields, a measure of the College's reach and real-world relevance.
At its core, the College's work is deeply human. Whether through Dental Hygiene students providing care to underserved populations, Behavioral Health faculty addressing regional needs for family services, or Natural Sciences students contributing to biomedical and environmental research, HAS exemplifies education in action. Its graduates don't simply find employment - they fulfill a mission, extending Oregon Tech's values of service, stewardship, and discovery far beyond the campus and into the heart of Oregon's communities.
Its signature programs consistently lead in national rankings and outcomes. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program reports nearly 100% job placement within six months of graduation, while Clinical Laboratory Science is ranked #1 in Oregon and among the top 75 nationally. Oregon Tech's Radiologic Technology program is ranked #11 in the nation, and the university as a whole was named the #2 top public college in the West and #4 overall among Western regional colleges by U.S. News & World Report (2026) - evidence of a university where academic excellence meets measurable impact.
The College also anchors Oregon Tech's Rural Health Initiative, an ambitious effort to address statewide healthcare shortages through education and innovation. At the forefront of this initiative is the university's aspiration to establish a College of Medicine - a transformative expansion that will train physicians for practice in rural and underserved communities while generating an estimated $1 billion in annual economic impact for southern Oregon. The future medical school will build upon HAS's existing academic and clinical infrastructure, ensuring a seamless pipeline from undergraduate study to professional preparation and practice.
The next Dean will join Oregon Tech at a pivotal time - one defined by growth, optimism, and purpose. This is more than a leadership role; it is an invitation to guide a college whose faculty and programs embody the university's enduring commitment to transform lives through applied learning and innovation. Oregon Tech itself stands at the intersection of academic excellence and pristine natural beauty - a university nationally recognized for career outcomes, value, and innovation, set within Klamath Falls, where clear blue skies, crystalline lakes, and mountain horizons inspire both reflection and forward momentum.
To lead the College of Health, Arts & Sciences is to shape the future of applied health and science education in Oregon - and to do so in a place where excellence and purpose meet.
