Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import Export Specialist to join their manufacturing team near Kalamazoo, MI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the international shipment of goods, ensuring compliance with all import and export regulations, and optimizing our logistics processes.
The Opportunity:
- Coordinate and oversee international shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Prepare and process all necessary documentation for imports and exports, including bills of lading, invoices, and shipping manifests.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other third-party service providers.
- Monitor and track shipments, resolving any issues that arise during the transportation process.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to align shipping schedules with production timelines.
- Analyze and report on logistics data to optimize shipping routes and reduce costs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import/export regulations and industry best practices.
What we are seeking:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field preferred.
- 3+years experience in import/export operations within the manufacturing sector
- Experience leading a small team
- Strong understanding of U.S. and international trade regulations.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
