About the Role

Balto, a pioneering tech startup that has built a suite of AI tools for large sales and customer service teams, is seeking a talented Junior Information Security Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will play a key role in helping our team implement and maintain security measures across our systems and networks. This is a fully remote position, offering you the flexibility to work anywhere in the U.S.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Information Security Analyst to join our growing information security team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cybersecurity, a foundational understanding of security principles,  compliance regulations, and Amazon Web Services, and an eagerness to learn and grow in the field. This role will support the security team in protecting the organization’s information assets by helping to implement and maintain security measures across our systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS).
• Analyze logs and network traffic for suspicious activity or anomalies.
• Assist in responding to security incidents and breaches under the guidance of senior team members.
• Help in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of security tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection).
• Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, reporting findings and assisting in remediation efforts.
• Assist in the implementation of security policies, procedures, and controls.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that security requirements are integrated into project plans and operations.
• Maintain and update security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
• Assist in preparing security reports for internal teams and management.

Required Qualifications

• Basic understanding of cloud security (AWS).
• 0-2 years of experience in IT security, network security, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, operating systems (Linux), and cybersecurity principles.
• Familiarity with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of compliance and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR, NIST).
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with security tools and systems.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
