Job Summary:
CenterPoint Energy has been in business for over 150 years and aims to be the most admired utility in the United States. The Service Consultant serves as a single point of contact for customer distribution projects, managing project execution and ensuring customer satisfaction while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
Works with multiple departments, customers, municipalities, outside consulting firms, and other utilities to gather information in order to execute projects accurately and in a timely manner.
Develops and maintains business partnerships with elected officials and employees of city, county and state entities to effectively service customers.
Supports community and civic organizations through active participation on boards and committees, project coordination and fund-raising events.
Provides project management for distribution capital and maintenance programs for CenterPoint Energy.
Gathers project information, prepares estimates, analyzes data and designs electrical, gas and street light distribution facilities.
Represents the company in service extension negotiations related to service locations.
Ensures customer obligations are met, negotiates and secures payment of projects, researches easement rights, and maintains completion of construction within specified timeframes.
Identifies, evaluates, and if necessary, corrects pre-existing issues related to compliance with governmental regulations, code violations, and CenterPoint Energy standards. Corrective action may require negotiation with customers related to safety, cost, and legal responsibility.
Review facilities for compliance with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), state, city and county governmental ordinances and CenterPoint Energy standards. Also, must have working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
Performs field inspections as needed for final project approval, foreign cable attachments, customer installed facilities, and miscellaneous customer requests.
Required to accept reassignment to different service center locations to meet business needs and for development.
Required to participate in CenterPoint Energys Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
Qualifications:
Required:
Requires a technical or business related bachelors degree from an accredited college.
Requires a minimum two (2) years of experience in a project management role for an electric utility responsible for designing overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
Must have working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
Must have working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
Required to accept reassignment to different service center locations to meet business needs and for development.
Required to participate in CenterPoint Energys Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
Preferred:
Area of concentration in construction science, construction management, or electrical technology preferred.
Related work experience within construction management, engineering or technology may be accepted in lieu of education requirement.
