KYUK is a nonprofit public media organization serving the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta in Western Alaska. Our mission is to inform, connect, and uplift communities through local radio, television, and digital reporting rooted in Indigenous knowledge and lived experience. KYUK centers local voices, languages, and stories—providing trusted news, cultural programming, and critical information that strengthens civic life, preserves culture, and supports community resilience across the region.
The reporter produces timely local news, feature stories, and interviews for daily on-air and online presentation. Also occasionally hosts and/or produces special programming in collaboration with staff (local candidate forum, live dog mushing, etc). The position requires adaptability, self-motivation, and an ability to live and work in a remote, cross-cultural community. Experience working with Indigenous communities preferred.
Salary and Benefits: $60,000 - $69,000 Paid vacation (up to 12 hours per month), sick leave, and holiday leave (17 holidays annually). Health insurance (with dental, vision, and life insurance) available within one month of hire date. Retirement program including up to 5% employer match. Moving Stipend: One-way plane to Bethel, $350 reimbursement for moving costs, and 1 month of housing assistance.Skills: Radio / Podcast
