Level I – $3,570.48 – $4,341.33 /month Entry and training level class. No education or experience requirements. Level II – $3,669.67 – $4,459.62 /month Journey level with six (6) months clerical experience in Sacramento County service or in any public or private agency. Office Assistants provide a wide range of clerical/operational support involving customer service, document preparation, filing, record‑keeping, and other duties that support the function of an office operation. Some positions may be designated "confidential" in nature, in accordance with the County Employee Relations Ordinance, and are excluded from the representation unit which includes positions allocated to the regular class. Knowledge and Abilities Standard methods of filing (alphabetic, numeric, chronological) and record‑keeping principles. English language communication – reading, writing, speaking. Telephone procedures. Arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and correct change. Keyboard and typewriter/printing equipment. Letter and memo format. Reading, writing, speaking fluently in other languages (when required). Ability to proofread details and detect errors. Employment Qualifications Any combination of education, training, and experience likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities for this class. For Level II: Six (6) months clerical experience in Sacramento County service or in any public or private agency. For Level I: No education or experience requirements. Initial appointments are made based on the minimum qualification being met. When "experience" is referenced, it refers to full‑time paid experience unless otherwise stated. Proof of educational or certificate/license requirements must be submitted with the application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Special requirements may include speaking, reading, and/or writing fluently in a language other than English, or knowledge of culture as certified by the Department of Personnel Services. Probationary Period The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months. Application and Testing Information Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply immediately.
