Position Title: Community Outreach/YPI Assistant
Location: Kansas City, Missouri (Clay and Jackson Counties)
Program Duration: November 18, 2024 - May 31, 2025

Reports To: Community Outreach/ YPI Coordinator

Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Employment Type: Contract

Overview:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City is seeking a dedicated and organized Community Outreach/YPI Assistant to support the Community Outreach/YPI Coordinator in the execution of our Youth Police Initiative (YPI). This 16-week program aims to positively transform youth perceptions of the local police department and foster meaningful relationships between law enforcement and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Coordination: Assist the Community Outreach/YPI Coordinator in implementing program activities and managing logistics for each session.
  • Community Engagement: Help facilitate initiatives aimed at changing youth perceptions of the police and building rapport between law enforcement and participants.
  • Errands and Logistics: Responsible for picking up daily food orders for the youth and running errands as needed. Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Program Participation: Assist in planning and organizing a graduation event for youth upon completion of the program.
  • Assessment Administration: Help administer pre-test and post-test assessments to evaluate shifts in youth perceptions of the police throughout the program.
  • Youth Engagement: Engage with participants to ensure they feel supported and encouraged throughout their experience.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with youth, community engagement, or related fields is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with youth.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • A passion for youth development and community service.
    • A proactive and positive attitude.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs.
