Job Title El Camino College Part‑Time Faculty – Political Science Req: A2526‑019 Division: Behavioral & Social Sciences Closing Date: Monday, November 24, 2025 at 3:00 PM (PST) Job Description The El Camino Community College District is accepting applications for part‑time Political Science faculty positions for the 2026 spring semester. The role supports the college’s mission of institutional effectiveness, quality education, and student success. Representative Duties Assess learning outcomes and improve teaching and learning in alignment with the college mission. Teach courses during morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours; assignments may include dual enrollment, distance education, online, or hybrid formats. Develop and teach high‑quality online or hybrid courses; completion of the college’s distance education certification or waiver evidence is required. Participate in initiatives that support student achievement through collaboration with employers, advisory committees, industry, universities, high schools, or related instructional partnerships. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in political science, government, or international relations; OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in history, economics, public administration, sociology, or social sciences with emphasis in political science; OR Equivalent qualifications (candidates must explain how their qualifications are equivalent to the above); OR Valid California Community College instructor credential in the appropriate subject (issued prior to July 1 1990); AND Sensitivity to, and understanding of, diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities. Desired Qualifications Previous college‑level teaching experience. Salary Part‑time faculty are compensated on a semester basis. Beginning rates are $113.77 – $137.08 per lecture hour and $86.23 – $103.87 per lab hour, depending on education and experience. Conditions of Employment Part‑time, temporary position for the 2026 spring semester, beginning February 17 2026. Assignments may include off‑site locations.
