Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student - Software Engineer for Deere & Company JDTIC located in Champaign, IL , you will...

  • Participate in the design, development, and deployment of digital software products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver new features
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
  • Engage in Agile team activities: stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives

This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas.

What Skills You Need

  • Pursuing a degree in any of the following (undergraduate or graduate):
    • Computer Science
    • Computer Engineering
    • Data Science
    • Graduation date of spring of 2025 or after 
  • 1 or more years of experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, JavaScript, Java
  • 1 or more years of experience working with REST APIs
  • 1 or more years of experience working with databases, SQL
  • 1 or more years of experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Strong communication, high creativity, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent ability to learn and work on a team
  • GPA equal or higher than 2.8 
  • Able to work (16-20 hours/week) during the academic year
  • Able to work (30-40 hours/week) during the summer semester

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with React.JS, Next.js
  • Experience and passion for working with generative AI tools
  • Experience with cloud hosting (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with containerization and DevOps practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD)
  • Basic understanding of Agile software development methodologies
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain documentation and research papers
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and practices
  • Understanding of software security principles
