Join our dedicated team as a Patient Care Technician I in the Med/Surg unit, where you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate care to our patients. This full-time position involves direct patient care as well as assisting in the overall coordination of non-direct patient care activities.

In this role, you will perform essential nursing procedures focused on patient comfort and care for individuals in stable condition. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Registered Nurses in caring for acutely ill patients, always ensuring respect for patient dignity and privacy. You will also need to adhere to hospital policies and procedures, especially during emergency situations.

As a Patient Care Technician, your duties will include:

• Delivering and documenting direct patient care activities, including vital signs, skin surveys, specimen collection, and more to support daily living and health monitoring.
• Assisting with medical procedures and treatments, and ensuring safety through participation in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Keeping accurate records of patient activities and reporting any changes in their condition to nursing staff.
• Engaging in unit housekeeping tasks and maintaining supply inventory.
• Supporting team dynamics by precepting newly hired Patient Care Technicians and promoting a safe and clean environment.
• Performing additional duties as needed, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the unit.

Qualifications for this position include:

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• No prior experience is necessary; we provide two weeks of training for new hires.
• Basic mathematical skills, the ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Clearances from Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 for criminal background and child abuse.
