Title : Policy Analyst, Defense Policy Reports to: Director, Allison Center for National Security Job Summary: The Policy Analyst is responsible primarily for the management, synchronization, production, and dissemination of the Index of U.S. Military Strength and conservative Defense Budget, two of The Heritage Foundation's signature products. The Policy Analyst develops, manages and modifies the master production schedules, coordinates the delivery of content from both internal and external authors, develops new and innovative graphics, and coordinates the full scope of dissemination methods to ensure the maximum impact of the Index and Budget. This position also maintains individual research portfolios on military cybersecurity, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Defense Industrial Base.
Job Duties: - Manage, lead and synchronize all aspects of the development of the Index of U.S. Military Strength and conservative Defense Budget.
- Coordinate with multiple internal and external authors for the delivery of new updated content for the Index and Budget.
- Provide exceptional quality control and review of all content submitted for the Index and Budget to ensure consistently high research standards and on time production.
- Coordinate Index and Budget authors and reviewers, preparing the necessary contracts and documents ensuring complete accountability of funds and delivery of required services.
- Research and write high quality papers, reports, book chapters, and commentary, covering the areas of military cybersecurity, the Coast Guard, and the Defense Industrial Base.
- Serve as the Davis Institute's lead for the planning and conduct of wargames and simulations.
- Organize and participate in internal and external events, meetings, and conferences.
- Assist in preparation of Congressional testimonies.
Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree in related field
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in public policy
Communication: Excellent convincing writing and speaking skills for both research and commentary; knowledge of digital editing preferred
Technology: Microsoft Suite

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $84,500 annually. This range is a good faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
