About the Firm

A well-established, third-generation family-owned engineering firm based in Boston provides HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical Engineering, Code Consulting, and Commissioning services to leading businesses and institutions in the region. The firm employs approximately 87 staff members, with around 20 specializing in the Plumbing and Fire Protection (P/FP) department.

Position Overview: Senior Plumbing Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Engineer to support the P/FP department and collaborate with design teams on various projects. This role involves producing construction documents, designing and sizing piping systems, performing hydraulic calculations, selecting equipment, and coordinating with architectural and structural building components.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the Lead Plumbing Engineer on assigned projects.
• Oversee the production and review of calculations, drawings, and specifications for all plumbing systems.
• Perform construction administration duties, including site visits, submittal reviews, and responding to RFIs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
• Mentor and guide team members to enhance their skills and expertise.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Mechanical Engineering preferred (MA required; licenses in other states and NJ are a plus).
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
• Strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems, their applications, and code compliance for commercial, institutional, medical, and public buildings, such as healthcare, biotech, higher education, office spaces, mixed-use residential buildings, and hotels.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Massachusetts State Plumbing Code and Fuel Gas Code.
• Proven management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
