Position Overview

The Valance Maker 1 is responsible for sewing all valance top treatments in a production environment. This role involves receiving fabric, checking measurements, sewing, and pressing top treatments while adhering to quality, safety, and housekeeping standards. The position requires attention to detail, proficiency with industrial sewing machines and hand tools, and the ability to perform repetitive motions, stand for extended periods, and lift continuously. Safety compliance and following instructions are essential. This role helps the team meet production goals and maintain high standards, directly supporting the department’s performance.

What you'll do

  • Receive fabric from the Top Treatment Cutter and verify measurements on work tickets.
  • \n
  • Sew valance top treatments accurately using industrial sewing machines.
  • \n
  • Iron and press top treatments to ensure a finished, professional appearance.
  • \n
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to maintain production standards.
  • \n
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety rules.
  • \n
  • Operate hand tools and production equipment safely and efficiently.
  • \n
  • Report any unsafe conditions, accidents, or near misses to supervisors.
  • \n
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
  • \n

Who you are

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • \n
  • Experience using industrial sewing machines and general sewing skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • \n
  • Basic knowledge of fabrics and production equipment.
  • \n
  • Attention to detail with accuracy in names, numbers, and spelling.
  • \n
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • \n
  • Capable of standing for long periods and lifting regularly.
  • \n
  • Able to pass a color-blind test.
  • \n
  • Strong focus on safety and compliance with workplace rules.
  • \n
  • Comfortable performing repetitive hand and wrist motions.
  • \n
