Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will manage the general accounting and financial processes for the organization and its associated entities. Responsibilities include cost analysis, financial reporting, proper execution and recording of financial transactions, and compliance with financial regulations. The Staff Accountant will be a crucial member of the accounting team, ensuring smooth financial operations.Key Responsibilities:
• Cash Receipts: o Process cash receipts with appropriate coding.• Financial Reporting:
o Assist with financial reporting using Sage Intacct.• Cost Reporting:
o Handle cost reporting for Equity Homes Construction Company’s rehab, demo, and landscaping projects.• Journal Entries:
o Prepare and record mortgage journal entries for Equity Homes Lending Corporation. o Perform daily and/or monthly-recurring journal entries in the general ledger.• Reconciliations:
o Prepare monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and client mortgage notes receivables.• Payroll Processing:
o Process bi-weekly payrolls and maintain payroll systems. o Prepare payroll journal entries and post 403B payments.• Intercompany Transactions:
o Execute all intercompany transactions in the bank.• Filing and Record Maintenance:
o Maintain organized electronic and paper filing records for departmental operations. o Ensure proper filing system and methodology for company records.• Additional Duties:
o Perform other tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.Qualifications:
Required Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. • Previous accounting and/or bookkeeping experience in the financial industry is strongly encouraged. • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis. • Experience using accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial data. • Experience with payroll processing preferred. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and work both independently and as part of a team. • Inclusive and respectful attitude toward people of diverse backgrounds and life experiences. • Willingness to travel locally (less than 5%).Competencies:
