2025 Summer Internship Opportunity – Special Event Planning

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is seeking a Special Events Planning Intern for the summer.  
The Intern will work closely with the Events Hospitality Manager to plan and execute Arts Center sponsored special events, including the Fourth of July parade, the Midsummer Festival of the Arts, JMKAC’s weekly Concert Series and the Chair City Cookout. Additionally, the intern plays a prominent role in executing facility rentals, including weddings, corporate meetings, and group tours. Specific areas of focus depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests. 

Responsibilities: 

• Deliver exceptional customer service to a wide variety of clientele and visitors 
• Assist with planning, setting up, and managing facility rentals and special events 
• Assist with preparation and execution of all Arts Center special events, including Levitt Amp Music Series throughout the summer, the Midsummer Festival of the Arts on July 19 & 20, the Art Center’s participation in 4th of July parade, and the Chair City Cookout in August
• Prepare files for facility rental inquiries
• Complete research related to special events, rentals, and retail as directed 
• Train, plan, and execute group tours held at the Arts Center and Art Preserve 

Qualifications 

• Strong communication and organizational skills 
• Commitment to being a team player 
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment 
• Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds 
• Proficient with Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook 
• Ability to obtain a bartending license in the City of Sheboygan 

Summer 2025 Internship Dates  
June 2-August 22, 2025 (may be flexible), 29 hours a week, including nights and weekends.  
This is a paid internship.  Interns may also be eligible to receive course credit for this internship through their school, but it is the intern's responsibility to pursue this option through their school or university.
