Job Details

• Job Summary: To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards.
• Assists in the coordination of patient care: Assists registered nurse in planning patient care. Collaborates with other health team members. Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Implements patient care: Creates and maintains asepsis. Performs scrubbing duties. Communicates patient information to the appropriate persons.
• Interpersonal skills: Communicates with peers, other health team members, patients, visitors. Maintains adaptability. Supports teamwork within the department and units.
• Clinical preceptor: Performs clinical preceptor role for scrubbing and follows orientation outline, collaborating with the patient care coordinator, educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist.
• Care of environment and equipment: Maintains cleanliness in unit. Maintains and cleans equipment.

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to provide patient care.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule Information

• May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.

Unit Specific Information

• Maintains and cleans equipment. Held responsible for the equipment use and care in which is used during the surgical case.

Additional Details

• Frequent standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, crouching, stooping.
• Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
