About the position:
Medisys Health Network is seeking a mid-level web developer to support the development and maintenance of our internal and external web platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience working with PHP, WordPress, and front-end technologies, with additional exposure to Laravel, CakePHP, or similar PHP frameworks. A strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) is essential. He/She will be responsible for implementing pixel-perfect designs, troubleshooting code issues efficiently, and supporting web projects that serve administrative operations and public-facing tools use by patients.
Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environments is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain websites using PHP, WordPress, and front-end tools
Implement and extend features using OOP principles in PHP
Ensure pixel-perfect CSS styling and responsive design across devices
Adapt existing WordPress themes and templates to support design, layout, and content needs
Troubleshoot bugs and solve code issues quickly and independently
Set up and manage GitHub source control, including branching and resolving conflicts
Collaborate with lead developer and team on code, design integration, and deployments
Write clean, organized, and maintainable code following industry best practices
Participate in QA, testing, and content tasks across multiple projects
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Digital Design or related field is a plus but equivalent professional experience will be considered.
2–4 years of experience in PHP web development
Proficiency with WordPress and at least one PHP framework (Laravel, CakePHP, etc.)
Solid understanding and practical use of object-oriented programming (OOP)
Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
Strong knowledge of MySQL and ability to troubleshoot database queries
Experience with Git version control (especially GitHub project setup and issue resolution)
- Experience with cPanel or other hosting control panels
- Comfortable using the Linux command line for basic server operations
- Comfortable using the Windows command line for basic server operations
- Confortable to use composer for managing php dependencies
High attention to design detail and layout precision
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Nice to Have:
Experience with Angular or other JavaScript frameworks
Background or familiarity with hospital or healthcare systems
Understanding of accessibility standards and healthcare compliance (HIPAA)
Familiarity working with MAMP /XAMPP
Familiarity with Windows IIS environments
Work Location: Garden City, NY
Work Schedule: First 90 days onsite, hybrid with 2 remote days thereafter
Salary Range: $75,000 - $115,000
