Billing & Coding Specialist | Full Time | Tampa, FL

Schedule: Monday–Friday (day shift)

Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Billing & Coding Specialist to join a fast-paced healthcare team. This role focuses on accurate medical coding, insurance billing, and compliance to ensure clean claims and timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in medical terminology, and comfortable working collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign and validate ICD , CPT , and HCPCS codes for all patient records and procedures.
  

• Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly to meet insurance and regulatory requirements.
  

• Work closely with providers, clinical staff, and insurance carriers to resolve coding or claim issues.
  

• Analyze documentation to identify incomplete or unclear information and follow up as needed.
  

• Review charts, medical records, and claims for accuracy and compliance with CMS guidelines.
  

• Maintain data integrity and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  

• Participate in ongoing compliance and coding education.
  

Required Credentials

• MediClear Credential ( VantageClear ) or equivalent HIPAA compliance certification (e.g., Certified HIPAA Professional – CHP) — required to begin employment
  

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
  

• High School Diploma or GED required
  

• Proficiency with EMR and billing software systems
