Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company and trusted government contractor, is looking for experienced providers to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across New Mexico. About the Role
As a Locum Physician, you will conduct interview-based assessments and physical exams, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, to support Veteran benefit claims. Work locally within your own office, with the option to choose days and hours that suit your availability whether full days or half-day shifts. This PRN, ongoing position offers the flexibility to work around your schedule while contributing to an essential public service. Candidates must have their own office within a 50-mile radius of Silver City, Deming, Hobbs, or Grants, NM. No treatment or prescribing is required. Quick credentialing and onboarding process ensure you re ready to begin performing exams promptly.

Required Skills

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid licensure in New Mexico
• Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience with or familiarity in Compensation & Pension processes preferred
• Strong interview and physical assessment skills
• Ability to work independently and manage documentation efficiently
• Reliable internet access and personal office space within designated local areas

Nice to Have Skills

• Prior experience conducting VA or military-related assessments
• Certification in DMA or familiarity with VA portal training (though not required prior to start)
• Comfortable with administrative follow-up tasks, including report submissions and addendum preparation

Preferred Education and Experience

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 2+ years clinical experience in general medicine or related field
• Prior experience with Veterans or military populations a plus

Other Requirements

• Own and operate a compliant private office within 50 miles of specified locations
• Ability to perform exams on a PRN basis preferably 1-2 days per week as needed
• Valid driver s license and reliable transportation for local travel within service area
• Willingness to adhere to VES-specific rate structure and administrative protocols

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $624.00 (note: VES uses flat rates for assessments rather than hourly billing)
• Flat Rates: $800 for half-day (up to 4 hours) shifts; $1,600 for full-day (5+ hours) shifts
• One-time Bonus: $650 upon completing all required training and first exams
• Weekly pay via direct deposit
