The Sr. Regional Commercial Banker will help lead our commercial lending team and play a critical role in the growth and success of our organization by originating and managing complex commercial loan relationships. They will be responsible for providing strategic direction, mentoring, and coaching junior loan officers, and managing a portfolio of commercial loans. In-depth expertise in commercial lending, financial analysis, risk management, and leadership will be essential to achieving loan production goals, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and driving overall success of the Business Banking department.

This position will be based out of the Jeffersonville / Clarksville / New Albany area and can serve our entire field of membership.

What you'll do:

• Generate new business by identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective commercial loan borrowers through various channels, including referrals, networking, and marketing efforts.
• Evaluate loan requests, collect financial information, and conduct thorough financial analysis to assess creditworthiness and determine appropriate loan structures.
• Conduct comprehensive credit analysis, including review of financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and other relevant documentation, to evaluate borrower's creditworthiness and risk profile.
• Prepare written credit proposals with clear and concise recommendations for loan approval or denial.
• Structure commercial loan transactions to meet borrower's financing needs while managing risk for the organization.
• Negotiate loan terms, including interest rates, fees, and collateral requirements, and prepare loan documents in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, referral sources, and other stakeholders through effective communication, regular follow-ups, and exceptional customer service.
• Provide financial and credit advice to borrowers and assist them throughout the loan process, from application to closing and beyond.
• Ensure all commercial loan origination activities comply with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and manage the performance of commercial loan portfolios, including reviewing financial statements, assessing collateral values, and identifying potential credit issues.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior loan officers, including training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with other internal departments, such as loan operations, legal, and risk management, to ensure smooth loan processing, closing, and servicing.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field or equivalent financial institution experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial lending, including loan origination, underwriting, and portfolio management.
• Proven track record of generating new business and achieving loan production goals.
• Excellent communication and public relations skills a must.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial lending products, credit analysis, financial statements, and tax returns.
